Kanuki and the Wishing Tree by Meredith Kennedy

KatWT

Deep in the African plains lives a young giraffe, Kanuki. Kanuki, unlike the other giraffes, has a particularly short neck. Kanuki is grieved by this physical shortcoming and it affects her ability to live a life of fulfillment. One day Kanuki is met by a visitor, who shows her the wishing tree before bidding her one last piece of advice, “You must choose your own path. All you need is to believe in yourself.” Will Kanuki heed this advice? Will Kanuki be granted a long neck by the wishing tree? Join in on this entertaining tale of self-discovery.

This delightful children’s story is also available in Kiswahili.

This sounds like a great book, a few years ago at our old house we had a “wishing tree” in the woods, we’d take the girls out and they’d make wishes, was so much fun, every so often something would be waiting for them at the base of the tree, such good memories for all of us…:D

I’d not heard of a wishing tree before seeing this book Angie, an interesting concept 🙂
